AMD Invites For RDNA 3 Launch

AMD has just sent out its official invitation to launch the new graphics chips based on the RDNA 3 architecture. On November 3, 2022, it should be ready. Then the US chip manufacturer wants to present its new generation of Radeon graphics cards.

As AMD announced in a press release today, the launch of the RDNA 3 graphics chips will take place on November 3, 2022, at 9 p.m. GMT. Those who wish can then follow the event in a live stream via the video portal YouTube. Some important innovations are planned for RDNA 3, which will then be presented under the motto “together we advance_gaming”.

The new RDNA 3-based GPUs should bring a significant increase in performance, among other things. So far, the manufacturer has kept the information about the new Radeon graphics chips much more covered than in the case of the new Ryzen CPUs, which were presented for the first time a few weeks ago.

After all, AMD promised before the start of summer that they would offer an improvement in performance per watt of more than 50 percent. Furthermore, there was talk of a “revised architecture of the compute unit”. They also want to offer an “optimized graphics pipeline” and a “next generation” AMD Infinity Cache. AMD has not yet revealed what exactly all these marketing announcements mean.

Radeon GPUs with a structure width of 5nm and chiplets

What is certain, however, is that AMD intends to focus on the production of the new GPU chips with a structural width shrunk to five nanometers in the future. Production is again taking place at Taiwanese contract manufacturer TSMC, whose advanced manufacturing technologies have been used by AMD and Nvidia for years.

RDNA 3 is also interesting because AMD has announced the use of a new design in the form of chiplets. Several dies are combined into one large package in order to overcome the hurdles that would otherwise arise in chip design and thus achieve more performance.

However, there are a few other hurdles to be overcome in order to handle the data flow at the terabyte level between the individual parts of the chiplet, for example. So to what extent RDNA 3 will work with chiplets is one of the key questions AMD will hopefully answer on November 3rd regarding its new Radeon GPUs.
