Android 13 Usage Doubled Since January: Statistics

The market share of Google’s Android 13 mobile operating system has doubled in recent months. Despite this, the latest version is still installed on relatively few devices. Older versions spread more slowly, so progress can be seen.

The Android version released last year is spreading much faster than its predecessor editions. In addition to Samsung, OnePlus, and Oppo also started delivering updates after a short time. While the market share was given as 5.2 percent in January, according to 9to5google, Android 13 can now be found on 12.1 percent of all Android smartphones.

Spread faster than Android 12

Although a market share of 12.1 percent sounds like little, big strides have been made with Android 13. While Android 12 was installed on 13.3 percent of smartphones a year after its release, Android 13 has reached 12.1 percent after just eight months. If the distribution continues at the current pace, Android 13 will be available on many more devices after a year. Currently, Android versions 9, 10, 11, and 12 can be found on a larger number of smartphones than Android 13.

Android has long been known for new updates never reach most devices. A few years ago, numerous manufacturers only updated their flagship models. In recent years, many vendors have changed course, promising to provide updates faster and longer. This may have contributed to the higher speed of dissemination.
