Microsoft Promises To Fix Outlook Problem Soon That Came With Buggy Update

Microsoft is working to fix an issue affecting some Outlook for Microsoft 365 customers, preventing them from accessing email and their calendars. The buggy version of Outlook was distributed in the current channel at the end of March.

Outlook users reported problems when trying to perform any of the following actions while using the Outlook desktop client: add or access the group mailbox, add or access the group calendar, add, remove or edit group members, change E-mail elements such as B. Marking as read, archiving or moving emails to other folders.

“After updating to Outlook version 2303 (build 16227.20212), users may not be able to view or access Microsoft 365 group calendars and email messages in Outlook desktop,” the company writes in a newly released support document.

Currently, only a workaround helps

“Affected users are part of a Microsoft 365 group. Also, some affected users may find that the impact resolves itself after some time, although the impact may reappear at a later date.”

The Outlook team is working on a permanent solution to this known issue and recommends using a workaround in the meantime. Affected customers are advised to use Outlook Web Access (OWA) if they want to use the group’s feature, or revert to Outlook Desktop Build 16130.20332. 

This older version is not affected by the issue. It is not yet known when Microsoft will make an update available. However, the company will probably not wait until the next patch day to fix the problem – because according to the problem reports, many users are affected and are demanding a quick fix.
