Apple iPad Sales Are Falling Despite New Generations

Apple iPad Air 2022

Bad news for Apple and Microsoft Demand for tablets has also fallen massively in recent months. Even the introduction of new iPad models was able to boost sales to a limited extent, while the number of units of other models fell significantly.

As the Taiwanese industry service DigiTimes reports, citing its own statistics based on data from local suppliers and contract manufacturers, tablet shipments fell by 7.7 percent worldwide in the fourth quarter of 2022 compared to the previous three months.

For the current quarter, a further significant decline is now expected, which should even be in the double-digit percentage range. Ultimately, the number of tablets shipped in the first quarter of 2023 is likely to fall below the 30 million unit mark for the first time in a long time.

Is the decline continuous?

As a reason for the decline in sales in the fourth quarter of 2022, the report cites the reluctance of customers to use the money for non-essential expenses as the economic situation continued to deteriorate. Apparently, the promotion campaigns launched by many manufacturers were not able to bring about any noticeable improvement, so the number of units fell well short of the sales of previous years.
