Apple Plans Larger Displays Upto 6.9-inches for iPhone 16
Experts assume that Apple will opt for larger displays with the iPhone 16 Pro Max. The screens of the upcoming smartphone flagships of the year 2024 could therefore appear with diagonals of 6.3 inches or 6.9 inches.
The rumors are spread by the often well-informed analyst and display expert Ross Young MacRumors reported. In detail, the diagonal that he rounded up for the Apple iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max should be slightly smaller at 6.2x inches and 6.8x inches. Young intends to provide more precise information in the coming weeks.
According to this, Apple’s marketing department could once again boast of the largest displays in iPhone history in the fall of 2024, while one important question still remains unanswered – that of the screen frame. If these are not narrower, the iPhone 16 Pro Max in particular with 6.9 inches could be considered unwieldy for many users. On the other hand, larger housings could make room for increasing battery capacities and more advanced camera modules (e.g. periscope ).
Are larger displays only for Pro models?
It also remains unclear whether Apple is considering enlarging the displays of the “normal” iPhone 16 family as well, or whether the changes will only apply to the Pro models. Both the iPhone 14 (Plus) and the iPhone 14 Pro Max are currently available with either 6.1 or 6.7 inches. According to experts, the iPhone 15 family that will follow this year will be presented with the same diagonals. However, narrower frames are still being discussed here.
Finally, the rumors are in the room, according to which the iPhone 16 Pro family should appear at the latest with the currently often discussed “Solid State” buttons instead of mechanical buttons. With a period of one and a half years until the presentation of the iPhone 16, these should always be viewed with a certain skepticism.
