At WWDC, a New Mac Studio is Likely to Be Unveiled

Some recent pieces of information suggest that Apple could unveil the redesigned Mac Studio at WWDC scheduled for next week. The source of this information is Mark Gurman from Bloomberg. He kind of confirmed this news. Furthermore, Gurman explained the details of the upcoming Mac Studio on Twitter. According to him, the upcoming Mac Studio is codenamed “J475.” On the other hand, the existing Mac Studio is given a ‘J375’ codename. This information suggests that the upcoming device is a next-gen Mac Studio‌ model.

Previously, Gurman reported that the company was testing two desktops Macs. According to his information, the two new desktop Macs were powered with the M2 Max and ‌‌M2‌‌ Ultra chips. Back in January, the company introduced the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with an M2 Max chip. However, the M2 Ultra chip is a new one. It is a successor to the company’s M1 Ultra chip that is featured inside the ‌Mac Studio‌.

Gurman states that the M2 Max Mac includes 8 high-performance cores, 4 efficiency cores, 96GB RAM, and a 30-core GPU. these offerings are similar to the chip in the ‌M2‌ Max version of the 16-inch MacBook Pro. On the other hand, the ‌M2‌ Ultra Mac features sixteen high-performance cores, eight efficiency cores, and a 60-core GPU. In contrast, some preliminary information suggests that the M2 Ultra could feature 76 GPU cores. It also features different storage configurations like 64GB, 128GB, and 192GB of memory.

Just days before the WWDC keynote, Apple is rumored to be testing new Macs. According to Gurman, he anticipates that several new Macs, including a whole new 15-inch MacBook Air model, would be unveiled at the event. Gurman hasn’t explicitly said that the new Mac Studio will be unveiled at WWDC, but it now appears quite plausible.
