Buy PlayStation VR2 Directly Without an Invitation

The PlayStation VR2 gaming headset will be launched next year and has so far only been available for pre-order by invitation. The restriction has now been removed so that anyone can purchase the device. Apparently, the demand is lower than expected.

At the beginning of November, Sony announced that the new cyber glasses for the PlayStation 5 would be released on February 22, 2023, at a price of just under 600 euros. The scope of delivery includes the headset, two Sense controllers, and stereo headphones. A charging station must be purchased separately. The PS VR2 headset has been available for pre-order since November 15, 2022. So far, however, potential buyers have had to register and wait for an invitation from Sony in order to be able to place the order. From now on this is no longer necessary.

There was no big rush

Although Sony wanted to restrict orders with the required invitation, every registered buyer was said to have been sent a link. The number of pre-orders was therefore not limited. The group should have expected a much larger rush and apparently wanted to prevent delivery bottlenecks with the invitations. Now Sony has released the pre-order for all users without notice. The delivery date is still the week after February 22nd.

Despite technical highlights such as the OLED display with a 110-degree field of view and 4K and 120 Hertz, it can be assumed that the headset will remain a niche product. Even the previous generation is said to be significantly worse than the five million Units PlayStation 4 has sold 117 million copies. Since the cyber glasses are more expensive than the PS5 itself, that shouldn’t change much with the PS VR2 headset either.
