Disney+: These are the new films and series in July 2025

Disney+ introduces its new films and series for the July program. The streaming service celebrates the 50th anniversary of the White Hai, six Transformers films can be seen and Bobs Burgers are back. All films and series are overview here.

Hai documentary for the cult film anniversary

In July 2025, Disney+ honors the 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s Thriller classic “The White Hai” with an extensive documentary program. The film published in 1975 is considered the founder of the modern blockbuster cinema and had over $ 470 million worldwide – with a budget of only $ 7 million. At that time Spielberg’s work triggered a real shark hysteria and sustainably influenced the perception of the sea robbers.

In the new documentary “The White Hai: The Story behind the Blockbuster”, Spielberg gives personal insights into the turbulent history of the film. Production was plagued by technical problems – the mechanical shark, lovingly called “Bruce”, often did not work properly. These breakdowns forced Spielberg to show the shark economically, which paradoxically increased the tension and contributed to the success of the film.

Nature filmmakers without protection against predatory fish

The renowned nature filmmaker Bertie Gregory ventures into “Haie up close” off the coast of South Africa to document white sharks in their natural habitat. Gregory deliberately dispenses with the usual protection of a cage and approaches the predatory fishing up to six meters long with special equipment. His recordings should show how the animals actually behave if they are not disturbed by grid rods.

At the same time, actor Anthony Mackie examines an unusual phenomenon off the coast of Louisiana in her own documentary. Heai views have been increasing there for some time. Together with local fishermen, Mackie gets the possible causes to the bottom and illuminates the effects on the local fishing industry.

Transformers saga completely available

From mid-July, Disney+ extends its film library with the complete Transformers series. The first six films of the franchise, which is based on Hasbro’s toy line of the same name, come up with a total of more than 14 hours. The production costs of the series were over $ 1.1 billion, while the films worldwide recorded more than $ 4.8 billion.

The franchise started in 2007 under the direction of Michael Bay and quickly established itself as one of the most successful action series in Hollywood. In addition to the main films, the “Bumblebee” prequel published in 2018 will also be available, which is clearly different from Bay’s staging and focuses more on character development.

New series with a historical background

The new series “Washington Black” is based on the novel by the Canadian author Esi Edugyan. The story takes place in the 19th century and follows the eleven -year -old George Washington “Wash” Black, who is born as a slave on a sugar plantation in Barbados. His intelligence and scientific mind bring him into contact with the plantday owner’s eccentric brother.

The series addresses the brutal reality of slavery in the Caribbean, while at the same time telling a story about hope and self -determination. After all, Wash has to flee and crosses unexplored areas, learning to imagine a future beyond social constraints. Production was partially shot in Barbados to capture the authentic atmosphere of the time.
