Edge’s Kids Mode and other features are being removed by Microsoft

As per some recent pieces of information, Microsoft has removed five features from the Edge browser. Reportedly, the features won’t be available with version 117 of the app. Please note that this version is currently in beta testing. The stable version is scheduled to be released in a few weeks.

The official release from the company for Edge 117 beta details that Picture Dictionary, Citations, Grammar Tools, Math Solver, and Kids Mode will be removed. The business claims that this modification will enhance the user experience and streamline the in-app menus.

The company is removing these features due to their minimal use. Perhaps most of the users weren’t even aware of the existence of these features. Math Solver, known for solving mathematical equations and problems, is presented in the More Tools section of the overflow menu. It opens on a side panel. Users can drag and drop or type the mathematical problems to find the solutions.

One thing to mention here is that Math Solver by Microsoft is also available as a standalone app on Android, iOS, and even the web. Besides this, Kids Mode was added by the company in April 2021. It provided a kid-friendly browsing experience for users. Kids Mode blocks access to harmful sites. It includes several parenting controls like age range, blocking web trackers, and turning on Bing SafeSearch, that filters out adult text, images, and videos from search results

Microsoft Edge 117 includes some new features

Well, the latest update of the app is not only about the removal of features; it also brings some new features. Some of the newly introduced features include AI-based grammatical corrections like showing matching words and phrases, automatic two-way switching between work and personal browsing profiles, a new and improved sustainability feature, and others.
