EMUI 11 update schedule: Huawei names update dates

After a certain waiting period, Huawei has published a specific timetable for updating a whole range of smartphones to EMUI 11. In view of the ongoing problems with the US sanctions, it is not surprising that the list has so far been clear.

Huawei wants to implement a number of innovations with the EMUI11, which should also benefit the still large number of owners of the Chinese manufacturer’s devices in Western Europe. When updating to the new version of Huawei’s own user interface, there is generally no update to Android 11.

Instead, it remains with Android 10 for the time being, without Huawei wanting to comment on further updates of the underlying operating system. For the time being, the upgrade to EMUI 11 is and will be limited to the interface, so it remains to be seen whether Huawei has the option of offering an upgrade to Android 11 in the near future.

Depending on the model, support for the Google Play Store and the various Google services and apps will probably be retained, as some Huawei smartphones were certified by Google before the US embargo was introduced. Obviously, when upgrading to EMUI 11, Huawei is almost exclusively concentrating on upper-class devices.

Huawei P40 series will be served from December

In Western Europe, the update to the EMUI 11 from Huawei will begin with the Huawei P40, its sister models, and the Huawei Mate 30 Pro in December 2020. The expensive Huawei Mate Xs with its foldable display will then be updated in January 2021. All other models, including the Mate 20 and P30 and their respective different variants, will be updated from the 1st quarter of 2021.
