Facebook Opens Avatar Stores, waste of money?

Actually, there are already plenty of ways to waste money online on pretty pointless things. Facebook is now expanding these capabilities with its new Avatar Store, which can also be used for Instagram and Messenger. The company’s core product is virtual garments that allow users to give their avatars a new look. For now, this can only be used on the aforementioned social media platforms, but company founder Mark Zuckerberg has already announced that the virtual space of the Metaverse will soon also be provided with corresponding offers.

The items of clothing offered are certainly not just made by the graphic designers of the company. Instead, they are provided by designers from major fashion brands. They create these, especially for this purpose, borrowing of course from the already known style of their products.

The avatar wears Prada

“Digital goods will be an important way to express yourself in the metaverse and an important engine for the creative industry. I look forward to adding more brands and bringing this to VR soon. Eva Chen and I have some of the new looks from Balenciaga, Prada, and Thom Browne – a change from my terry cloth sweater,” he explained. The stores will initially launch in the US, Canada, Mexico, and Thailand in the coming weeks. It is still unclear when such a trading platform will also be available in Europe.

Until the shops are accessible, you will also have to be patient with regard to the prices. So far, Facebook has not revealed what it costs to completely dress up your own avatar in Prada. Obviously, in the future, there will likely be many such offerings in the Metaverse instances, which will include a wide variety of virtual products for sale that will allow you to shine in the virtual world.
