Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 will receive new Tiles and an upgraded Google Keep app
Combined with the latest features like Digital Car Key sharing and Reading Mode for Android smartphones and tablets, Google has also introduced some new and enhanced features for Wear OS-based smartwatches. Google is introducing new Tiles and improved first-party apps for wearables. The new features will be available across Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5 series.
Google claimed that three new Tiles will be made available on Wear OS smartwatches. These tiles include:
- Sunrise time
- Sunset time
- Favorite contacts
The favorite contacts tile is beneficial for nearly everyone. Where the sunrise and sunset time tiles will be advantageous for athletes, photographers, and those who prefer outdoor activities. Furthermore, a new Tile that indicates quick access to home and work locations is also made available on Google Maps.
In addition to these, Google Keep is receiving updates that enable the viewing of labels, photos, custom backgrounds, collaborators, and drawings. These features were not available on the Wear OS version of the app. Now Google is introducing them on Google Keep. Thus, making the experience more beneficial in form of a standalone app on smartwatches.
Concerning the beginning of the new year, Google Assistant is receiving integration of the Adidas Running app. Now the users can use their Galaxy Watch and ask Google Assistant to begin a run via the Adidas Running app. Though, this will require an active internet connection.
Given these latest updates and upgrades, it appears like Google is working seriously towards wearables. Thus, succeeding in the particular segment.
