Google Cloud powers Galaxy AI on the Samsung Galaxy S24

The South Korean conglomerate debuted its Galaxy S24 series just yesterday. The new flagship series is not only compelling for its advanced and powerful features but also for the new AI features that have been named Galaxy AI. The company has introduced several features under this name, including Live Translation, Chat Assistant, and Circle Search.

According to details, the Galaxy AI is powered by the advanced AI of Google Cloud. The S24 series, in particular, will make use of Google’s Gemini Pro and Imagen 2 on Vertex AI, utilizing cloud computing to improve smartphone performance. Different types of data, including images, videos, and text, can be handled effectively by Gemini Pro. Furthermore, native apps like Voice Recorder, Notes, and Keyboard can be integrated with Gemini Pro to improve their performance over time. The press release indicates that Gemini Pro is quite efficient at handling security and privacy aspects.

Imagen 2, a diffusion model that can convert text into images, is also available on the S24 series. It has been added to the phone’s Gallery app for smart photo editing. Besides this, the company is also testing Gemini Ultra. It is a powerful tool that can be used to complete complex tasks. On the other hand, the company is also using Gemini Nano for everyday use. It will help users generate smart replies to messages and improve the quality of photos and videos captured in the dark. It is quite similar to the one already found on the Pixel 8 Pro. The South Korean tech giant Samsung is one of the first companies to try Gemini Ultra. The tool will be available to more developers and businesses in the future.

The Head of Samsung’s Software Office of Mobile eXperience Business and Corporate EVP, Janghyun Yoon, mentioned his excitement that the Galaxy S24 series is the first to use Gemini Pro. The CEO of Google Cloud, Thomas Kurian, emphasized that the platform’s sophisticated architecture and adaptability would help Samsung developers by enabling them to offer these AI features to Samsung customers.
