Google Pixel 6a Renders Appeared

After the successful launch of the flagship Pixel 6 Pro, Google also seems to want to stick to the middle class. This rumor emerges from the first details and renderings of a possible Pixel 6a, which could appear as a compact 6.2-inch smartphone.

Although the search engine operator was able to make an impressive comeback in the high-end area with its new top models, the so-called A-series has always been one of the bestsellers. For this reason, it should only be a matter of time before Google starts with the Pixel 6a. The well-known designer and leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer (OnLeaks) shows the first pictures of the device on the blog 91mobiles on the basis of CAD files. Interested parties can thus get a first impression of what the upcoming mid-range smartphone might look like in the end.

The most well-informed insider assumes a Google Pixel 6a with a display diagonal of 6.2 inches. This would make the Android 12 smartphone large, but much more compact than its siblings’ Pixel 6 (6.4 inches) and Pixel 6 Pro (6.7 inches). As was to be expected, the manufacturer seems to be staying true to its new design language, which is primarily defined by a camera module running horizontally across the entire housing. We’re talking about two cameras on the back and a selfie camera on the front (punch hole). The more compact model should also have a fingerprint scanner within the screen.

So far, we can only speculate about the inner workings of the Google Pixel 6a. There is talk about the possible use of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC and the Samsung Isocell GN1 sensor with 50 megapixels. Furthermore, up to 8 GB of working memory (RAM) and 128 GB of flash memory could be on board. It is still unclear whether Google uses its own tensor chip, which primarily impresses with its capabilities in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). In the end, however, the price should determine whether and how well the Pixel 6a will sell. The market launch could take place in the course of next year (2022).
