Huawei Pocket 2 flip phone is now official in China
In China, Huawei has debuted its Pocket 2 foldable smartphone with top notch specs. In this short piece, we will uncover the design, specs, price, and some other details of the Huawei Pocket 2.
Design of the Huawei Pocket 2
The new clamshell Pocket 2 appear quite similar to the Pocket S. On the back, it features a dual circular module for the rear cameras and the round cover display. It has a horizontal hinge that is built with aerospace grade “rocket steel” materials and 2nd gen Kulun glass technology. In the unfolded state, the phone weighs 200 grams and measures just 7.25mm (7.35mm for the Leater variant). It features IPX8 certification for water resistance.
Specs of the Huawei Pocket 2
The primary display of the Huawei Pocket 2 is a tall 6.94-inch LTPO OLED panel with 2200 nits of peak brightness and 420 PPI pixel density. It offers 1 to 120Hz variable refresh rate, a 2690 x 1136 resolution, 1440Hz PWM dimming, 300Hz touch sampling rate, and a 21:9 aspect ratio. The back features a 1.15-inch OLED screen with a 296 PPI pixel density and 360 x 360 resolution. It is powered by the Kirin 9000S processor.
This processor is coupled with different storage configurations including the 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB variants. With the addition of an NM memory card, all three models may expand their storage capacity up to 512GB and have 12GB of RAM. It packs a 4,520mAh battery with support for 66W wired fast charging, 40W wireless fast charging, and 7.5W wireless reverse charging. It runs on HarmonyOS 4.0 out of the box.
The camera setup comprises of an XMAGE quad camera setup on the back. It consists of a 50MP primary sensor with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens and an 8MP telephoto shooter with OIS and 3x optical zoom. They are accompanied by an AI powered 2MP hyperspectral camera. A 10.7MP sensor for selfies and video calls can be found on the front.
Dual band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.2, USB Type C, and NFC support are some of the other noteworthy features. The Pocket 2’s ability to support two-way satellite communication is a significant update. Users can even verify the application of sunscreen by using the UV Sunscreen test mode. This helps you apply sunscreen correctly and accurately to protect your face from the sun’s UV rays. It does this by using the camera and the cover display.
Pricing and Availability of the Huawei Pocket 2
Huawei Pocket 2 is available in different color options, including Rococo White, Taro Purple, Tahitian Gray, and Elegant Black. The Taro Purple and Elegant Black options features a leather back. The base model (256GB) is priced at 7,499 Yuan (roughly 1,044 US Dollars). However, the 512GB and 1TB configurations are priced at 7,999 Yuan (roughly 1,113 US Dollars) and 8,999 Yuan (roughly 1,252 US Dollars) respectively.
Besides these, there is another Huawei Pocket 2 Art Custom Edition. It is priced at 10,999 Yuan (roughly 1,530 US Dollars). It features a unique design. Its flat texture gives an appearance of 3D. It is available in 16GB RAM + 1TB storage option. The pre-orders of the Pocket 2 will begin from 22nd February 2024, however, the sales will begin on 1st March 2024.
