As the main Mobile World Congress MWC 2020 conference has been canceled officially but the companies are trying to keep their conferences alive, Huawei has already announced that it will go live at the virtual press conference in Barcelona, Spain on Feb 24 at 3 PM CEST.

Earlier, Sony has also announced its already scheduled conference would remain the same but online, Sony’s press conference is to take place on Monday morning 8:30 AM CEST on February 24, 2020, in Barcelona, Sony said the conference would go live on the internet.

According to some reports surfaced earlier, Huawei is going to announce it’s foldable, unlike Huawei Mate X phone during the conference. So it would an entirely a new foldable model at the conference.

As we have seen two major companies trying their luck on reintroducing retro style phones, Samsung and Motorola recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Moto Razr Flip, both the phones couldn’t successfully pass the durability tests conducted by independent testers. However, Samsung’s device Z Flip appeared to be more durable than Moto Razr.

We do not have many details about Huawei’s new foldable phone, it could be a flip phone as we can deduce from what competitors are doing or it could be a new version of the previous Mate X which would be called Mate XS. Huawei’s CEO Richard Yu hinted last year that Mate XS would come with better Kirin Processor 990 5G also an improved display and durable hinge. He also hinted that it will come with a new design more compact and durable. If it’s more compact, then we can assume a flip design, but all we have currently in hand is to speculate and wait for the date to come.
