Huawei’s P50 series will now come with HarmonyOS instead of Android OS

Earlier, we were expecting to get the Huawei P50 on July 29 (today). But thanks to US sanctions which delayed the release. Despite that, we still believe that this series would soon come to the market.

According to the latest information, the P50 and P50 Pro would come with HarmonuOS. These devices will be the first ones to come with this operating system. They won’t be running Android (again thanks to US sanctions).

Moreover, we heard that these devices will feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 instead of Kirin chips. However, we also heard that one version of the Huawei P50 Pro would also come with the Kirin 9000. Both of these devices are also coming with 4G support. We aren’t sure if there would be a 5G-supported device.

The Huawei P50 Pro might have 8GB or 12GB of RAM with up to 512GB of internal storage. The base variant (Huawei P50) would have 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of storage.

Display-wise, the Pro variant will feature a 6.6-inch 120Hz 1228p OLED display. The base variant will come with a 6.5-inch 90Hz 1224p OLED display. The Pro model would get its power from a 4360mAh battery, while the other one to get its power from a 4140mAh battery. Both will have a 66W wired fast charging support. The Pro variant will also have a 50W wireless charging support.

The Huawei P50 Pro is likely to feature a quad-camera setup – 50MP main, 64MP telephoto, 40MP monochrome, and a 13MP ultra-wide. The other one feature a triple-camera setup – 50MP main, 12MP telephoto, and 13MP ultrawide. Both will have a 13MP front-facing camera.

The Pro model will have a starting price of 5,988 yuan (around $927) and will go on sale in China on August 12th. The base model will have a starting price of 4,488 yuan (around $695) and will go on sale in September.
