In an effort to draw users to the newly introduced Threads platform, Instagram is promoting the app. In the Summer of 2023, Threads debuted. The platform attracted a large number of users; however, given the scarcity of features on the platform, users abandoned it shortly. In the first week of the app’s launch in July, it reported 100 million active users. It was quite surprising. But since then, the active user number has begun to decline. According to the company’s report, half of the users had been lost by the end of July.
As of now, the company is trying to pull back the audience to Threads. Besides the users who signed up for Threads, there are still a huge number of users who have not given Threads a try yet. For this reason, the company is working on a strategy to promote its new platform. Until now, the company has added several new features to the app, like reposting, keyword search, a web version of the app, and a Following feed. In simple words, Meta is trying to improve the user experience on Threads by constantly adding new features.
Threads app is promoted by Instagram via ‘For You’ carousels
A ‘For You on Threads’ carousel might appear in the Instagram feed. You are being encouraged to visit Meta’s new social media platform for conversations. They don’t seem to be appearing very frequently. It’s also conceivable that Instagram isn’t yet making these carousels available to all users. The promotions could showcase the posts from accounts a user follows that are registered on Threads as well. Users can check out the app by clicking on it if they are interested. They will be taken to Threads or to the App Store or Play Store to download the app. Furthermore, a button indicating ‘open app’ might appear as well, which will take users straight to the app.
