Insider Preview: Microsoft Fixes Fatal Bugs In Windows 10v 2004 And 2009

Microsoft has released a bug fix update for the Windows 10 Insider Program. Windows 10 version 2004 and version 2009 are addressed, the update is available for the beta and release preview channel.

These are non-security-related changes that are already being tested in the Windows Insider program and will then be finally published for all users of the Windows 10 May 2020 update aka version 2004 on the September patch day. The list of fixed bugs is very long, in Insider Blog Windows Manager Brandon LeBlanc has listed all the changes we have picked out a few of the errors.

This includes that Microsoft is now addressing the problem that had led to a stop error with the error code 0xC00002E3 for some users. The problem occurred after installing certain Windows updates that were released on or after April 21, 2020 – the bug should now be resolved. The same applies to a problem that caused some users to take an unusually long time to open apps. A bug that prevented ActiveX content from being loaded has also been fixed. We had reported these errors several times in the past.

Update also in the release preview channel

With the update, which Microsoft has marked as KB4571744, for the first time all users who have registered for the release preview channel will receive an update for version 2009 or 20H2. That had already been announced last week but was not yet documented. The updates bring the version number 19041.487 for Windows 10 version 2004 and version number 19042.487 for Windows 10 version 2009. There is no entry in the knowledge base under KB4571744.

There are currently no known problems for the new updates, but testing in the preliminary version is, as always, at your own risk.
