In just over two months, Apple will present his latest operating system iOS 19 on the WWDC25 on June 9th. According to current rumors, three older iPhone models – the iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max – could not receive any further support.
These models were introduced in September 2018 and would therefore be at the end of their update cycle after almost seven years. The iPhone XS Max also recently packed Apple on the list of “outdated” (vintage) devices – so the restriction does not come as a surprise.
The information comes from an anonymous account on the platform X, which has already revealed several reliable details about Apple software in the past. If the rumor is confirmed, iOS 19 would be available exclusively for iPhones from iPhone 11 and iPhone SE of the second and third generation. Owners of an iPhone XR, XS or XS Max do not have to consider a new purchase immediately. Even if these models should not receive iOS 19, Apple will continue to provide security updates. So today IOS 16.7.11 was published with security improvements for the iPhone 8 and iPhone X.
