JBL Flip 7 Revealed: Smarter Sound, Tougher Design

With the JBL Flip 7, a new generation of Bluetooth speakers appears. The device offers AI-optimized sound, longer battery life and better water protection. The market launch takes place in China before the speaker will be available globally.

AI-based sound for on the go

One of the main renovations of the JBL Flip 7 is the JBL AI Sound Boost-Algorithm. This is intended to optimize the sound in real time by artificial intelligence and ensure balanced audio playback. Later detailed tests will only be able to show whether the AI support is actually reflected in an audible improvement. Compared to the previous model, JBL has also improved the protective class of the speaker.

The flip 7 is certified according to IP68 and is therefore better protected against dust and water than the IP67-certified flip 6. In theory, the new speaker should even survive short-term immersion in up to 1.5 meters deep water. JBL also adds at the battery life: Instead of the 12 hours of the predecessor, the flip should last up to 14 hours. A special energy saving mode that deactivates bass and equalizer settings can extend the term by another two hours, according to the manufacturer.

New functions and improved connectivity

The JBL Flip 7 supports the new Bluetooth standard 5.4, which should be noticeable in faster connection times and less latency. Bluetooth 5.4 also brings improvements such as encrypted advertising data and extended security functions for gene compounds.

The device is also compatible with Auracast. This technology enables the transfer from a transmitter to several recipients or from several channels to a recipient, which opens up new possibilities for shared use of audion. For users who value loss-free audio quality (Lossless), the Flip 7 offers a USB-C audio input with an integrated DAC chip. In this way, the speaker can also be connected to computers or other compatible devices.

With dimensions of 182.5 x 69.5 millimeters and a weight of 560 grams, the flip 7 remains a compact and mobile wireless speaker. JBL also equips the loudspeaker with a new fastening system that enables quick and decoupling accessories such as hand loops or carabiners.

Market launch and pricing

The JBL Flip 7 is said to be in China (via Gizmochina) can be pre -ordered from February 24, 2025. The regular price for the gift box edition is 1349 Yuan (around 177 euros).
