Microsoft Edge Now Allow To Change Saved Passwords

Microsoft has equipped the current beta build of its Edge browser with a new function. The program now supports a standard that is supposed to make it easier to change passwords. Passwords can be adjusted directly via the browser options.

As Techdows reports, the Redmond-based company has equipped its browser with support for the so-called “Well-known URL for change passwords” standard. With this, Edge knows which page the user has to access in order to be able to change his password for a service. A new button now appears in the password menu of the settings, with which the user is then redirected to the corresponding page.

Since Edge has a feature for recognizing leaked passwords, the new function is particularly suitable for offering the user the opportunity to change the affected password directly. On the page, the browser can suggest a secure password.

So far, the function has only been built into the beta version of the browser. If no problems arise during testing, the implementation of the interface could also be found in a stable build in the next few weeks.

Not All Websites Are Supported

It remains to be seen whether the new feature will actually make it easier to change passwords. The standard is currently only supported by a few prominent websites. These include, among others, Twitter, GitHub, and WordPress. For all services that do not implement the standard, the user must still visit the page himself and find the form for changing the password there.
