Netflix games for TVs and the web are now available in the US

A few months ago, the video streaming platform Netflix debuted Netflix Games. Reportedly, the feature was accessible across TVs and the web on the Netflix app. Initially, it was introduced as a beta test in Canada and the UK. It was accessible to a limited number of users. In a recent development, the company announced that Netflix Games will now be available to US users.

US users will receive Netflix Games as part of a beta program. Currently, there are no details on when this feature will become public. At the moment, the platform offers two game titles, including Oxenfree, an adventure game, and a gem-mining arcade game named Molehew’s Mining Adventure.

The company claims that this feature will be available on selected devices, specifically devices from our partners like Chromecast with Google TV, LG TVs, Nvidia Shield TV, Amazon Fire TV Streaming Media Players, and Roku Devices. It will be available on Samsung Smart TVs, Xumo devices and TVs, and Xfinity 4K devices. With time, more and more devices will be added to the list. As far as web partners are concerned, Netflix Games will be available on Mac, Chromebook, and Windows PC.

Using your smartphone as a controller

In order to play games on your TV in the Netflix app, users can use their smartphone as a controller. To do so, users must download the Netflix Game Controller app, which can be accessed from the App Store. One thing to mention here is that the app is not available on the Google Play Store as yet. It means that an Android smartphone can’t be used as a controller. For playing games on the web, the keyboard, mouse, and trackpad will act as controllers.
