Netflix May Finally Be Integrating with the Apple TV App

 Netflix is reportedly working on integrating its library with the Apple TV app, making it easier for users to access Netflix content through Apple’s unified interface. This would bring Netflix in line with other streaming services like Disney+, Max, and Amazon Prime Video, which already support the Apple TV app.

The development was first spotted by FlatpanelsHD, where users reported seeing a prompt to integrate Netflix on an Apple TV 4K device. Once activated, Netflix Originals began appearing in the “Continue Watching” section of the Apple TV app. Users can also now add popular shows like Stranger Things and Squid Game to Apple TV’s universal watchlist.

That said, the feature is still in its early stages. Currently, only Netflix Originals are supported, while licensed content is excluded. Additionally, the integration is reportedly limited to the U.S. and does not yet function on Apple TV apps for other platforms, such as Smart TVs.

Interestingly, this comes shortly after Apple introduced its Apple TV app for Android, over five years after launching its streaming service.

While integration with platforms like Apple TV offers users added convenience—like a universal watchlist—Netflix has historically resisted this move. In 2018, Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings explained their stance, stating, “We prefer to let our customers watch our content on our service.” He made these remarks in an interview with CNBC, which you can read here.

As of now, neither Netflix nor Apple has officially confirmed the integration or provided information on when it might expand beyond the U.S. This news also follows Netflix’s recent subscription price hike and the introduction of a new feature allowing users to download an entire season at once.

It remains to be seen whether this marks a broader shift in Netflix’s approach to platform integration, but for now, it’s a step forward for Apple TV users in the U.S. looking for a more seamless streaming experience.
