OriginOS 4 is now official with improved features

OriginOS Beta

Vivo’s Developer Conference was set to begin today. Reportedly, the conference has started with the debut of Origin OS 4, which is based on Android 14. According to sources, the OriginOS 4 has several new features. It even includes a redesigned User Interface and performance improvements. However, the new operating system will be restricted to devices inside China. On the contrary, global units have already received Funtouch 14.

OriginOS 4 brings improvements in power

A “virtual graphics card” enables faster app responsiveness, which is one improvement in performance. It improves frame rate stability by 70% and reduces app opening and closing times by 36%. In reality, the OS gives the onscreen task priority, increases CPU and GPU resource allocation, and prevents “irrelevant calculations.”

Visual improvements

In order to improve visual comfort, OriginOS 4 comes with over 2,000 redesigned icons. The whole operating system now features a custom Vivo Sans font. Moreover, UI interactions feature contextual wallpapers, lock screen personalization, and real-time blurring effects.

Some features of OriginOS 4 will be China-exclusive

Android Auto is not accessible in China. For this reason, the company has debuted the Vivo Smart Car 4.0 with OriginOS 4. It will showcase when a user links their smartphone with the supported cars. In addition, some other features are expected to be only available in China, including the new Blue Heart Jr. V assistant and Family Health. The Blue Heart Jr. V assistant harnesses the powers of AI, whereas Family Health monitors the smart devices used by other family members.

The new OriginOS 4 will begin rolling out by year’s end. Notably, it will debut on China-based non-Android variants of the following smartphones, including the X Fold 2, X Flip, X90, X90 Pro, X90 Pro+, iQOO 11, iQOO 11S, and iQOO 11 Pro. However, the upcoming series, including the Vivo X100 and iQOO 12, will debut with it pre-installed.
