Pakistan IT Industry Wins Acknowledgement at International Forums

The Pakistan Information Technology Industry has continuously been in limelight and winning international awards and acknowledgement at the international forums and has become the world’s greatest and most reputable entities among its regular customers.

Pakistan has won Government Leadership Award-2017, GSMA Awards and Spectrum for Mobile Broadband-2015.

Anusha Rehman—IT Minister of State has won the International Telecommunication Union’s Gender Equality and Mainstreaming (GEM-TECH) Award of the United Nations in December 2015.

Information Technology Ministry (MoIT) has also attained a seat in the Governing Council of the Asia Pacific Centre for Information and Communication Technology for the Development under the UNESCAP.

Iftikhar Shah—Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB)—Managing Director said that at annual APICTA Awards, Pakistan IT firms have regularly won the top-class awards and many Pakistan’s IT firms are ranked among the world’s fastest developing companies of the world.

Pakistan’s IT sector has got potential and that could be proved by the presence of international IT firms doing operations in Pakistan like Intel, IBM and Huawei.

Shah informed that PSEB had introduced many programs for boosting the local IT industry which involves IT firm capability strengthening via international certifications such as 9001(110 firms), CMMi (28 firms), ISO27001 and ISO20000(24 firms).

He added that these certifications make it much simpler for the IT firms to implore business from the overseas businesses.

In freelancing Pakistan is ranked as the fourth most famous nation in the Online Labour Index, published by Oxford Internet Institute (OII) in 2017 and is persistently ranked in the topmost countries for ICT outsourcing because of the huge government efforts and great commitment to the development of the IT industry in Pakistan.

Presently there are many Pakistan’s IT firms operating in the international arena which includes “GameView Studios”, TkXeL”, “Mindstorm Studios” and “Pepper PK”, etc.

Among these companies, Pepper PK made name and fame by developing the paid BlackBerry applications which acquired topmost positions on the App World Store of BlackBerry.

Pakistan has developed some amazing gaming studios. These days the most watched “Games of Thrones”—its title animation sequence has been developed by a US-born Pakistani—Hameed Shaukat.

TricastMedia—a Pakistani start-up—developed the world acknowledged application the Cricket Companion.

Mir Zafar Ali—Visual effects Artist from Pakistan got three Oscars for his amazing and breathtaking work in Frozen, Life of Pi and The Golden Compass.

An animator from Pakistan—Novaira Masood has her animation effects in the most famous Hollywood films such as Thor, Jack the Giant Slayer, A Christmas Carol, Transformers and Maleficient.

Exactly like Novaira, Laraib Atta is another emerging name in visual arts from Pakistan who has shown the visual effects in Godzilla, X-men and Gravity among many more.
