Password sharing on Netflix in the United States will end soon

A few months ago we heard that Netflix would end password sharing on its platform. It looks like now that the time has arrived. The company is going to completely end password sharing in the US soon. The main reason behind this policy is that the company doesn’t want multiple users to use one account. Since it will lead to less revenue for the company and such a situation is not favorable given the current economic conditions.

Essentially, if any user desired to share the main Netflix account with multiple users, then the account holder is required to pay more per month. Additionally, the service is geo-locked in order to use the service user needs to be inside the designated location. Well, so far Netflix is the only company that is adopting such strategies and these strategies are pushing users to drop their subscription services.

People in the United States have been expecting this to come to them because the company has been testing it in numerous countries, including Canada and Peru. Well, that moment is quickly approaching for US subscribers as Netflix has said it would end password sharing in Q2 2023. It indicates that within the next few months, US users will observe the change. The company has not shared any exact date for it.

Netflix shared with its shareholders that the paid password-sharing policy has been successful. The company announced that it has expanded the paid password-sharing program in four markets during Q1 2023, in a letter to shareholders.
