PayPal’s credit and debit cards now work with Apple Pay

Among the online payment methods, PayPal is one of the most popular, with over 435 million users worldwide. Thankfully, Apple Pay users can now access PayPal credit and debit cards. These cards can now be added to the Apple Wallet app and used for mobile payments. In 2022, PayPal shared its plans for the integration of Apple Pay and Tap to Pay features. Such a partnership between the two companies will help them cater to a wider range of consumers.

In order to use it, connect your Apple Wallet app with PayPal credit and debit cards for payments. Several banks and card companies have adopted Apple Wallet and Apple Pay for years. Now, PayPal is joining the list. Undoubtedly, it was the most anticipated collaboration in the mobile payment category.

PayPal adds support for Apple Pay

PayPal credit and debit cards can be added to Apple Wallet in two different ways. Opening the PayPal app will show a banner indicating “Pay with your iPhone.” When a user taps on this banner, the Apple Wallet app will be opened. Users can then add their PayPal credit or debit card.

The other method is quite simple and straightforward. Open the Apple Wallet app and click on the “+” icon present in the upper-right corner of the app. Add your PayPal credit or debit cards, and you are good to complete your transactions. Do note that you will be charged 0.15% of each transaction by Apple. It amounts to 15 cents if you make a $100 purchase.

Furthermore, Venmo (owned by PayPal) might add support for Apple Pay as well. However, nothing has been confirmed yet, but chances are that it will happen soon. Apple Pay is used by over 55 million users in the US. It is expected that by 2025, the user base will increase to 67 million. Apple claims that it ranks fifth when it comes to the most widely used payment method globally. The top four services are provided by PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Besides this, Apple asserts that this year it generated $4 billion in revenue from its payment system.
