Pixel 9a Leak shows cell phone without iconic design element

Newly surfaced images of the upcoming Pixel 9a provide a first detailed look at Google’s mid-range smartphone. Compared to the previous models, one change in the camera area is particularly noticeable. Android headlines

High resolution images leaked

About six weeks ago, Google presented its new Pixel 9 models. As usual, the a variant of the phone will be launched a little later. Android headlines However, has now published high-resolution render images of the device. Several details of Google’s upcoming mid-range cell phone can be seen on them.

No more camera bump

The camera on the back of the phone is particularly noticeable. In contrast to its recent predecessors, the Pixel 9a no longer has a protruding camera module. The two lenses form a plane with the rest of the housing. Only the ring surrounding the module could still protrude slightly. In addition, the flash is no longer integrated into the camera island, which contains a wide-angle and an ultra-wide-angle.

Compared to the newer flagship models from Google, Apple, and Samsung, the fairly wide screen edges are also noticeable. However, there is no precise information about their dimensions. However, it is not surprising that a phone that is about half the price of the top models does not come with the same thin display bezels.

Dimensions unknown

The Pixel 9a’s frame is flat and houses a power button and a volume rocker on the right side. However, somewhat atypically, the leak does not reveal any information about the dimensions of the device. How big the smartphone is exactly cannot be said at the moment.

In view of the release periods of the last few years, Android Headlines currently assumes that the Pixel 9a will be presented in early May 2025. At around this point, the cell phone should come onto the market with Android 15 and the Tensor G4 chip. Like the Pixel 8a, its successor could also be equipped with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.
