Realme X3 Comes To Europe With Superzoom Functionality

Oppo subsidiary Realme is bringing its new, affordable, high-end Realme X3 Superzoom smartphone to Europe, contrary to what was initially thought. The corresponding announcement of the 499-euro flagship will take place next week.

The Realme X3 Superzoom was officially announced for the first time at the end of May, at which time there was talk of a launch in Spain and Great Britain. Realme has now set up its own small online launch event for Germany as well, in the context of which the local launch will be announced on June 9th.

The X3 Superzoom is basically a mixture of the top processor from the US manufacturer Qualcomm of 2019 with modern camera technology around a periscope zoom, which should enable a five-fold optical magnification. With a price of just under 500 euros, the device would certainly be interesting for many customers who are not yet dependent on the 5G support of newer high-end SoCs.

LCD instead of OLED technology

The buyer looks at the Realme X3 Superzoom on a 6.6 inch LCD with FHD + resolution and a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hertz. Since it is not an OLED panel, the screen is completely flat on the one hand and the fingerprint reader cannot be installed directly under the screen surface. Instead, Realme places it on the side of the device.

The Snapdragon 855+, which was used in almost all top smartphones in the second half of 2019, ensures proper propulsion. It is combined with 8 or 12GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB UFS memory, which can be expanded using a microSD card slot. NFC is missing here, as is the 5G support mentioned. The main cameras of the Realme X3 Superzoom use the Samsung GW1 sensor, which works with 64MP and has an f/1.8 aperture. The periscope zoom camera has a resolution of eight megapixels and has an optical image stabilizer implemented in hardware. In addition, there is an ultra-wide-angle camera with eight megapixels as well as a macro sensor with two megapixels resolution. At the front are a 32MP main camera and an 8MP camera with ultra-wide-angle optics in a pill-shaped cutout.

The entire package is rounded off by a 4200mAh battery. The operating system here is Android 10 in conjunction with the adapted Realme UI. Which variants of the X3 Superzoom should be offered in Germany are currently still open. In Spain, you can currently only order the version with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, which, as mentioned, is sold for just under 500 euros.
