Samsung reveals a 12.4-inch rollable OLED panel

Several companies have participated in the annual Display Week trade show in Los Angeles. Likewise, Samsung has come forward with some new and amazing products. Notably, the South Korean conglomerate has unveiled the rollable OLED panel. Of course, this is not the very first time that we are witnessing a rollable concept. However, the latest offering by Samsung is quite striking. It has the capacity to roll into a tiny scroll.

The panel can expand by an astonishing 5x, from 49mm to 254.4mm, as opposed to the present sliding displays, which can only expand by 3x. The firm claims that this tech was possible by opting for an O-shaped axis that mimicked a scroll. Samsung has used the term Rollable Flex for this tech and the OLED panel can be completely rolled.

In addition to this technology, the company has introduced another OLED panel. It has unveiled the Flex In & Out OLED panel. It has the capacity to bend in both directions. It is different from the current offerings that can fold in just one direction. For example, the flexible OLEDs offered with Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4.

Lastly, the tech company has unveiled the world’s first OLED panel with support for an integrated fingerprint reader and heart rate sensor. Currently, this tech is offered in a small, restricted sensor zone. However, the latest offering by Samsung enables users to unlock the handset by touching anywhere on the screen. The panel consists of the light-sensing organic photodiode (OPD). It takes into account the contraction and relaxation of blood vessels to measure blood pressure, heart rate, and stress.
