Snapdragon 778G Unveiled By Qualcomm A Powerful SoC For Midrange Devices

A few days ago, it was reported that Qualcomm is all set to unveil the new Snapdragon 778G SoC a midrange processor on the 19th of this month for a variety of mobile manufacturers, with the Snapdragon 778G, Qualcomm is launching a new mid-range SoC that we will soon find in many Android smartphones. Basically, the chip should make one thing possible above all: The construction of new smartphones despite the current bottlenecks caused by Corona.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G officially launched today is closely related to the Snapdragon 780G. It differs in that it is manufactured on the 6-nanometer scale at TSMC, while the 780G is hardly available anymore due to the enormous demand and is built on the 5-nm scale at Samsung. There are also a few other minor differences.

The GPU can now also do FHD at 144 Hz

The Snapdragon 778G has the internal model number SM7325 and has four high-end cores with up to 2.4 gigahertz, while the power-saving cores work with a maximum of 1.8 gigahertz. It also has an internal GPU called Qualcomm Adreno 642L, which is said to be able to address FHD + displays at up to 144 Hertz.

It is also interesting that Qualcomm expressly states that the chip can also play on waterfall displays with up to 3360 x 1600 pixels. HDR10 + and 10-bit color depth are also no problem for the new SoC. The cameras should support maximum resolutions of up to 192 megapixels and 4K videos with a high frame rate are also possible.

Qualcomm has also given the chip a Snapdragon X53 modem, which allows 5G downstream speeds of up to 3.3 gigabits per second. The chip transmits both in mMWave and in sub-6 GHz networks and should therefore also be intended for devices from Chinese manufacturers. WiFi 6 or WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and dual-frequency GPS are also part of the equipment. It is to be welcomed that Quick Charge 5 is offered here and that up to 100 watts of charging power can be achieved.

Qualcomm has already confirmed that the former Huawei subsidiary Honor will initiate its return to the smartphone market with a first new model with the Snapdragon 778G. In addition, devices from Xiaomi, Oppo, Realme, and Motorola can be expected with the new SoC, according to the chip manufacturer.
