Paramount+ has released a first teaser trailer for the upcoming fifth season of the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks. Unfortunately, this will also be the last season, but fans can look forward to ten new episodes at the end.
The announcement states that the crew of the USS Cerritos will be tasked with closing “space potholes” in season 5. The cracks in subspace are causing a lot of chaos in the Alpha Quadrant. This isn’t really a problem for Mariner, Boimler, Tendi and Rutherford, but angry Klingons, diplomatic disasters, mysterious murders and even an Orion War are causing trouble. And then, of course, the crew’s career goals stand in the way. It starts on October 24, 2024, worldwide on Paramount+. The ten new episodes will then be released every Thursday, so that the finale will flicker across screens just before Christmas, on December 19.
Even though the USS Cerritos’ journey ends there, more comedy in the Star Trek universe is already being planned, albeit not as an animated film, but as a live-action series. This will take Trekkies into the 25th century and take place on a holiday resort planet. There is no title or date yet.
