T-Mobile Removes Price Lock Promise for New Fiber Home Internet Customers

T-Mobile has quietly removed its popular Price Lock guarantee for new fiber home internet customers. Fortunately, existing customers are said to retain this benefit.
The Price Lock guarantee was a key selling point for T-Mobile, allowing customers to lock in their plan prices without fear of future increases. However, this latest change enables T-Mobile to adjust prices for new fiber customers freely.
According to The Mobile Report, citing an internal document, the Price Lock “promotion” for fiber home internet was officially retired on January 20, 2025. Effective immediately, new customers signing up for Fiber 2 Gig, Fiber 1 Gig, or Fiber 500 plans will no longer receive any form of Price Lock protection.
What About Existing Customers?
Thankfully, existing fiber home internet users with Price Lock will keep their benefit. However, this decision seems to exclusively target fiber users, as T-Mobile’s newer 5G Home Internet plans still include a proper Price Lock guarantee.
Why the Change?
The report speculates that removing Price Lock may signal T-Mobile’s intention to raise prices for its fiber services in the future, which it can now do freely for new customers. This move could create a divide between fiber and 5G home internet policies, leaving fiber users without even the prior “promise” of price reimbursement.
