Tesla Cars Stuck Due To Server Error: Drivers Couldn’t Get In Via App

At Tesla, there are apparently server problems worldwide at the moment. A failure occurred that caused far-reaching errors. This was noticed by drivers who suddenly could no longer open their cars via the app.

As Electrek now reports, Tesla drivers around the world were temporarily unable to unlock their vehicles or communicate generally via the app because the company’s servers were down. First, there were reports from affected users who exchanged information about the error in forums and on social media. These problems emerged around the globe, with those affected coming in from the USA, South Korea, Australia, and Europe with similar problems.

500 Server Error

For many, a “500 Server Error” was displayed in the app. This outage prevented the owners from using important functions of the app. It is said that this also resulted in incorrect location information for the vehicles. Electrek suspected based on the reports that owners of a Model 3 or a Model Y had more problems than owners with a Model S or a Model X.

Elon Musk himself then turned on Twitter. Several Tesla owners wrote to him directly asking for an answer. It was a pressing problem, especially for all those users who rely on the app as a key. Musk promised to look into the matter.

A little later, Musk tweeted that an accidental “increased network traffic” was causing the outage and that the servers were going back online. The underlying problem has been resolved and the function has now been restored. But it is still unclear what exactly happened, i.e. why the increased network traffic came about, which then brought the servers to their knees.
