The first smartphone featuring the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is the Redmi 12 5G
Budget phones are usually compromised for the specs and features and hence they are available for cheap prices. However, this is not the case that budget smartphones are not good enough. There are several different options that can make these devices appealing to audiences. Such options help to improve the specs and eventually impact the price tag. The 5G smartphones are quite dominant in the global markets. For this reason, a budget smartphone must carry this feature.
Several smartphone companies include the 5G feature on their budget devices. However, the feature can be improved by the addition of certain elements like an improved SoC. Xiaomi has done something similar with its latest budget smartphone offering.
According to some recent pieces of information, Xiaomi is all set to introduce a new budget phone to the Indian market i.e., Redmi 12 5G. Notably, the smartphone comes with the 5G connectivity feature. Moreover, Redmi 12 5G is the first ever smartphone to debut with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC. The Redmi 12 5G is releasing first in India, but you can anticipate seeing the identical phone with minor cosmetic modifications under the Redmi Note 12R and POCO M6 Pro 5G brandings.
The notable aspect of the upcoming smartphone is its chipset. Reportedly, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 is an improved version of the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 and the Snapdragon 695 SoC. Notably, the chipset uses the 4nm process manufactured by Samsung instead of the 6nm process from TSMC. There is a small change in the efficiency of the chipset and the rest is majorly the same.
The main difference is the improved 5G support. Because of this, OEMs like Xiaomi are allowed to charge less for the product while still offering a superior set of attributes than SoCs from earlier generations.
