The Mid-Range Flagship OnePlus 12R arrives on the market

Yesterday, OnePlus debuted the flagship OnePlus 12 and the OnePlus 12R, a mid-range phone with premium specifications. Reportedly, the OnePlus 12R is a rebranded version of the OnePlus Ace 3 that was released in China earlier in January. With some significant improvements, the most recent model replaces the OnePlus 11R from the previous year.

Features and specifications of OnePlus 12R

When it comes to design, the OnePlus 12R features the same design as its ancestor and the flagship OnePlus 12. Notably, the alert slider on the OnePlus 12R is now placed on the left side of the smartphone. It also features an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The smartphone has slightly curved edges and a central punch-hole cutout.

The OnePlus 12R features a 6.78-inch BOE X1 OLED screen with 1.5K resolution, 120Hz ProXDR refresh rate, and 4,500 nits peak brightness. It comes with LTPO 4.0 technology that can swap the refresh rate between 90Hz and 72Hz. It is a wider range compared to the previously limited set of refresh rates. The display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and is certified for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and DisplayMate A+.

On the rear, the smartphone features a triple camera setup comprising a 50MP Sony IMX890 main sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro unit. A 16MP selfie camera can be found on the front. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which is paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The smartphone comes with a heat dissipation system that keeps the device cool. It packs a 5,500mAh battery unit with support for 100W wired charging. To maintain the battery’s best condition for an extended period of time, it has Battery Health Engine technology. It is based on Android 14 out of the box.

Pricing and availability of OnePlus 12R

It comes in two color options: Iron Grey and Coal Blue. In the US market, the 8GB + 128GB and 16GB + 256GB configurations are priced at $499 and $599, respectively. It is now available for pre-order. However, open sales will begin on February 6 in India and on February 13 in the US and Europe.
