The next update of WhatsApp will bring Material You toggles for Android

In accordance with some recent pieces of information, the messaging platform WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature for its Android app. Reportedly, the next update of WhatsApp will introduce Material You toggles to the app. The feature is under development and it is not even accessible to beta testers.

In order to compete with Telegram, WhatsApp has largely modified its approach. It has introduced several new features over the course of the past few months. Despite all these feature updates, the design of the app has largely remained unmodified. It’s time for the app to receive a redesign with Material You toggles. According to information provided by WABetaInfo, the company is working on an upgrade for the Android version of the app. The new design was spotted in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.12.3. It might roll out to all users with the next stable update.

Previously, we have learned that WhatsApp was working on introducing a bottom navigation bar as well as an improved group chat settings page. However, the latest information suggests the arrival of a new switch UI. The app will get a modern and fresh appeal with the new toggles. Notably, the company will update the app with modern design trends.

The shared images reveal that the app is now more coherent with the overall Android theme and Material Design 3. The new toggles appear green when turned off and grey when turned off. Users can simply tap on a toggle to turn it on or off. The new feature will be accessible to beta testers with the next upcoming update. These modifications will assist WhatsApp in keeping up with the competition and stop users from switching to competing services. The new toggles could be WhatsApp’s first move toward a major redesign.
