UK Considers Banning Huawei from Britain’s 5G network
It has been reported that the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson will be banning Huawei from the country’s 5G network. If this move is implemented., it would please Trump administration but it would be a blow to China.
Johnson’s administration has been pushed by the U.S to change its January decision that allowed Huawei a limited role in 5G. Now as Britain is exiting the European Union, simultaneously it is risking the fury of China, the world’s second-biggest economy, by removing Huawei equipment.
The National Security Council (NSC) of Britain will meet on Tuesday. The meeting will be chaired by Johnson, and a decision will be taken regarding Huawei. Then the Media Secretary Oliver Dowden will announce the decision to the House of Commons.

Environment Secretary George Eustice said, “Obviously the context has changed slightly with some of the sanctions that the US has brought in.”
The U.S is led by the fear of China’s growing technological supremacy. They believe that the 5G dominance of China can redefine the dominance of the country as the world power.
Telecom companies have already limited the role of Huawei in 5G at 35% by 2023. Now they are discussing to reduce it to zero in another few years’ time. Though they do feel that going too fast is also not an option, and can be costly at the moment.
