Ukraine awards Google Peace Prize for wartime aid
Ukraine has decided to award the first “peace prize” to Google. A way for the country to thank the Mountain View company for supporting Ukrainian users. Since the conflict started three months ago, the California company has multiplied its actions to help the population at its level.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, many companies have decided to take a stance in favor of Ukraine. From the first moments of the conflict, well-known multinationals announced the end of their activities in Russia.
This is the case, for example, with Apple, which has suspended sales of the iPhone, iPad, and all its products in Russia. A few days later, Amazon, Google, and Sony also decided to stop selling their products in Russia. The result, no more Playstation game consoles available in the territory, the Google Play Store closed until further notice, and no more Amazon or Prime Video.
Google has multiplied actions in favor of Ukraine
Of course, some of his companies have also tried to support the Ukrainian people through various actions. First of all, Ukrainians were able to keep access to reliable information thanks to Google News while functions have been implemented on Google Search to obtain verified and source information about the conflict. In addition, Google has set up a warning system for all Ukrainian users of Android smartphones in the event of Russian bombings.

Because he contributed so much to the war effort in his own way, Ukraine has decided to award the first “peace prize” to Google on Thursday, May 26, 2022. The news was confirmed on Twitter by Karan Bhatia, Google’s vice president of government affairs and public policy.
The award was personally presented to him by Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov on behalf of President Volodymyr Zelensky. On this sign in the colors of the Ukrainian flag and the Google logo we can read: “On behalf of the Ukrainian people, with all our gratitude for the support during this crucial moment in the history of our nation”.
