WhatsApp beta showcases two new features for community group chats

According to some recent pieces of information, two new features for community group chats might make their way to the stable version of the app. Over the past few months, we have observed several new features and advancements for Meta’s messaging platform. The upcoming features are a part of this approach. Reportedly, the new features were spotted in the 2.23.24.8 and 2.23.24.9 versions of the app. Both versions indicate that the app will get a pin and archive chats feature for community group chats.

The chat pinning feature has been available on WhatsApp for quite some time. It can be used to pin chats at the top of the app’s home screen. In addition to this, just recently, the company introduced an option to pin individual messages inside chats. According to WABetaInfo, Meta is currently testing the ability to pin community group conversations in the app’s Communities tab.

Besides this, another feature was identified in the beta version of the app. It is an archive chat option. Notably, this feature will help users archive chats in the community group. Previously, it was possible to archive these chats; however, a few months ago, it was removed following an app update. Hopefully, this time it will remain and find its way into the majority of users’ stable version of WhatsApp.

Both of the new features can be accessed by WhatsApp beta testers. Participants of the beta program can download the most recent version of WhatsApp from the Google Play Store. One thing to notice here is that installing the update might not give you access to new features since the company tests the new features with a limited number of users in the initial testing phase.
