WhatsApp is going to add a proper video mode to its built-in camera app

WhatsApp is included among the best messaging apps for Android users. WhatsApp has come a long way after its acquisition by Meta. A number of useful features have been added.

Considering the span of the previous few months, WhatsApp has gained some slight updates. Though the updates were minor still the features hold significant usability. These improvements include:

2. Ability to message yourself
3. Send files up to 2GB in size
4. Communities feature

Most of the features were identified in the beta channel of the app before they were made public. As of now, WhatsApp is working on the development of another feature. This feature will enable video recording as well as sharing with other contacts easier.

As per WABetaInto, WhatsApp has been noticed working on a modified camera interface with a particular focus on its Android app. You can use the camera interface of the app to capture photos. As of now, you get the option of a shutter button along with some other buttons. These buttons enable the switches to the front camera as well as access to the gallery. A button used to switch the flash on is located in the top-right corner of the screen. For taking a video shot, you are required to hold the shutter button for a long. This seems quite simple. And apparently, it presents no problem.

But always we can look for some room for improvement. A similar improvement is going to be added here. Taking a video while pressing the shutter button for a long could be clumsy for some users. But WhatsApp seems to have solved this issue.

WhatsApp is working to modify the current feature. It is going to introduce a dedicated mode for taking videos to its built-in camera app. This button could be accessed with a right swipe on the viewfinder. Thus, making the video recording easier. Furthermore, this button is provided for switching between the front and rear cameras while recording the videos. Where this switching is not possible with photo mode. However, you can skip this button and continue to use the traditional method of long-pressing the shutter button available in the photo mode.

The changes to the built-in camera app will be tested with selected users on the beta channel. If you have version 2.22.21.8 or newer for WhatsApp beta on Android, your app will receive the updated feature.
