Messenger WhatsApp, which belongs to Meta, regularly introduces new features, sometimes bigger, sometimes smaller. Now it’s that time again because WhatsApp is getting the avatars that many have been waiting for. It is no accident that these are reminiscent of those of Facebook .
WhatsApp and Facebook were once not just different platforms, but different companies. But that hasn’t been the case for a long time, because the social media company, now called Meta, acquired WhatsApp a long time ago. But the two platforms are also becoming more and more functional in terms of functionality, as can be seen from the avatars that have now been introduced and presented in a blog post.
WhatsApp writes: “Your avatar is a digital version of you that can be created from countless combinations of different hairstyles, facial features, and outfits. On WhatsApp, you can now use your personal avatar as a profile photo or choose one of 36 personalized stickers, which include many different reflect emotions and actions.”
The messenger wants to improve and expand the avatars available for WhatsApp in the future: “We will continue to deliver style improvements such as lighting, shading, hairstyle textures, and much more that will make the avatars even better over time.
In order to be able to use an avatar, you have to set it up first. The corresponding menu item can be found in the settings (as the second from the top). As in a computer game, you can then create an image of yourself or, of course, another character.
The result can then be used as a profile picture and, above all, as a personalized reaction picture that expresses certain moods. This can be found via the emoji symbol to the left of the text field, below you can see a selection with four dots, avatars can be reached via the icon on the far right.
