Windows 11 Insider Update Shows Hidden Gallery

Microsoft is now supplying its insiders in the Dev and Beta channel with the first Windows 11 versions of the new year 2023. In addition to a long list of bug fixes, there are some visual innovations and a previously hidden gallery within the file explorer.

Windows 11: Microsoft’s hidden gallery in File Explorer

At the start of the new beta and dev versions for Windows 11, the resourceful insider PhantomOcean3 came across a hidden gallery that Microsoft could place as an additional menu item in File Explorer. Between Start and OneDrive, the new icon currently only points to the pictures folder. It is not yet known which path the Redmonders will take with this. The ViveTool (vivetool /enable /id:41040327) is required to activate the button .

Highlights in the dev channel: 

The new Windows 11 Insider Build 25272 fixes, among other things, black screens in connection with ARM64 devices, rendering problems in the search within the taskbar, filter errors in the task manager, and the failure of the live subtitles in the past dev versions. Also, the Quick Assist app has been decoupled from Windows Tools, a button has been added to refresh the print queue, and the inbox version of Subsystem for Linux has been removed.

Highlights in the beta channel: 

With Windows 11 Builds 22623.1095 and 22621.1095 (KB5022364), two new test versions are arriving, either with or without the activation of new functions. One of the new features is the optically changed search bar within the start menu. Here you now rely on a rounded look. Add to that most of the Dev Channel bug fixes related to Task Manager, Taskbar, Start Menu, and System Tray – packed into a slightly more stable build.
