Windows 11 Update Brings New improvement to Microsoft Store

Windows 11 users in the Dev Channel are currently being treated to a new Insider update that primarily targets the Microsoft Store. Under the motto “faster, better, further”, the contact point for apps is being improved and supported on other devices.

While Microsoft is currently mainly focusing on fine-tuning for the upcoming Windows 11 22H2 update (Sun Valley 2), the innovations in the dev channel remain manageable. It is currently mainly used to test new features, which will most likely only be introduced with the 23H2 update in the fall of 2023. However, in our opinion, the optimizations now published in the Microsoft Store could be included in the final versions of Windows 11 much sooner.

Faster navigation in the Microsoft Store on Windows 11

Performance improvement, Android app innovations, and more details

Like the Redmonders in a new blog post report on Insider Preview Build 25131, the Microsoft Store has been optimized in terms of native support for ARM64 devices. Accordingly, faster and better performance can be expected. According to Microsoft, work should also be done on faster navigation, which should improve the “browsing experience”.

The developers are still working on the general update process for apps from the Microsoft Store. Automatic updates no longer cause running apps to inadvertently close and patch. To avoid data loss, these apps can be updated manually later. Finally, Microsoft is improving the so-called “pop-up store” experience when dealing with Android apps.

The Redmond-based company also wants to add more detail to the store interface. For example, the current Windows 11 Insider Build 25131 with a better display of movie buying and renting options. It is unknown at this time when exactly the improvements for the Microsoft Store will reach the average consumer. However, we cannot imagine that a release is not planned until the autumn of 2023.
