X.AI is the new company by Elon Musk

According to The Verge (via the WSJ), billionaire Elon Musk has launched a brand-new AI business named X.AI. well, the billionaire already owns Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter, but the new company is committed to AI development. On March 9, Musk registered X.AI in Nevada. The registration details that Musk will be the company’s director and Jared Birchall, its secretary. The sale of 100 million shares in Musk’s most recent business has also been approved.

The filing details indicate that X.AI is a division of the X Holdings Corp. Well, it appears like that Musk is building a portfolio of X-named companies. Recently, the CEO has changed the social media platform Twitter’s name to X Corp. Besides this, Musk has shared his idea of an “everything app” labeled “X.”

Musk could encounter OpenAI with X.AI

Some of you might be considering that X.AI is the first expedition by Musk in the AI field. Well, this is not the case. Since Elon Musk is the co-founder of OpenAI. So far Musk has played a dual role in the development of AI. On one end he was the advocate of AI development. On the other hand, he has signed a letter that calls for a pause of six months for all AI experiments.

In 2018, Musk left the OpenAI company after a dispute with chief executive Sam Altman. WSJ reports that in Musk’s opinion, ChatGPT is politically biased. Where Musk intends to create safe AI models. During the last few months, Musk has employed several AI researchers. He hired Igor Babuschkin, an ex-research engineer at DeepMind AI lab.

A Business Insider report that claimed Musk had bought millions of GPUs for a generative AI product was released at the same time as X.AI. Musk just said, “It seems like everyone and their dog is buying GPUs at this point,” in response to the news.
