Xbox Series X/S And One Receives October Update

Microsoft is now making the October 2022 update available for download for its Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One game consoles. The Redmond company primarily works on various audio and power-saving functions. Xbox controllers are also getting a new firmware update.

Most of the changes will only be rolled out for the new Xbox Series X and Series S systems, as Microsoft’s blog post explains. This includes, among other things, the possibility of being able to regulate the volume of the television directly via the console via HDMI-CEC. Players are thus spared the search for the remote control. For all Xbox consoles, on the other hand, an optional mute of the startup sound is introduced so that the startup is silent.

Microsoft simplifies the processes

In addition, Microsoft announces that it will simplify setting up the Xbox as a home console with new setup processes. Among other things, the definition of a home console allows friends and family to access games even if you are not signed in with your Microsoft account. It also simplifies the description and names of Xbox power modes. Formerly known as “standby” and “sleep”, it is now called “hibernate” and “shutdown (sleep)”.

Microsoft is making an additional name change to the Xbox Passkeys, now referred to as Xbox PINs. Updates are also available for the Xbox app on smartphones and the Xbox Game Bar on Windows PCs. Here, clips recorded via console and PC can now be edited more easily. The Redmond-based company is working with Metal.tv platform.

Updates for Xbox Wireless Controllers

Finally, Xbox Series X/S Wireless Controllers, Elite Series 2, Adaptive Controllers, and Xbox One wireless gamepads benefit from a new firmware update. In addition to “troubleshooting” which is not defined in more detail, problems with joysticks that are connected via the Adaptive Controller are primarily eliminated.
