CEO wants Xiaomi at the top in 3 years

Xiaomi would like to lay off about 10 percent of its employees, especially persuading newly hired employees to leave the company. Xiaomi denied the reports circulated by, among others, China’s second-largest state news agency, pointing out that jobs had never been cut before. The group currently employs more than 31,000 people worldwide and plans to continue growing, according to a company representative. Since the company was founded in 2010, there have been further job losses. In addition, Xiaomi is currently looking for around 4,000 new employees and therefore wants to continue to grow strongly. But lately, there has been a prominent departure.

Most recently, Li Weixing, one of the key figures behind the development of the MIUI interface for smartphones and tablets, left the company. He was also one of the 14 founding members of Xiaomi and had also supported the company financially during its founding phase. Xiaomi is currently looking to further improve its position in the smartphone market. Company chief Lei Jun said last week that they want to completely overtake Apple within three years, be it in software, performance, or quality. In addition, Samsung wants to take the top position in the smartphone market in the same period, the founder and CEO announced fully. Logo, Xiaomi
