Now also Apple: Significant price increases for MacBooks and iPads

CEO Tim Cook had basically already announced it: Apple is now raising the prices for MacBooks, iPads and some other products due to the significantly increased costs of purchasing memory chips.
Reaction to storage price increases
Since the operators of large data centers have been buying up the memory market, the prices for RAM and flash chips have continued to rise. Several manufacturers have already responded to this by increasing the prices of their products. In some cases, new models are simply sold with a lower memory capacity. It was foreseeable that Apple would also raise its prices. The provider’s devices are now noticeably more expensive for buyers. The popular MacBook Air with a 13-inch display in the basic configuration is no longer available for 1199 euros, but 1399 euros have to be put on the table. For the larger 15-inch model, the starting price only rose by 100 euros.
Consumers who want to buy a MacBook Pro have to dig even deeper into their pockets. The 14-inch model is 300 euros more expensive in the basic configuration. And for the large notebook with a 16-inch display, 400 euros are added directly, so that customers now have to shell out at least 3,399 euros. The entry-level notebook MacBook Neo will be 100 euros more expensive. The prices for tablets are also high. Depending on the model, you will now have to pay 150 to 200 euros more. There are further price increases for the HomePod, the Apple TV and the Vision Pro VR headset. Only the iPgone remains initially exempt from the current price adjustments.
Be quick now
Apple explained that it had previously borne the rising costs of memory components itself, but now saw no way of fully absorbing the burden. According to the company, the price increases for components are unprecedented. The development even affects a company that is known for its particularly close relationships with suppliers. However, if you absolutely need a new notebook or tablet at the moment, you may still be in luck. The price increases currently affect the Apple Store. However, on trading platforms such as Amazon and various retailers, the devices are still available at the old prices. However, that is likely to change soon.
