Galaxy Headphones: Samsung wants to get involved in over-ear headphones

Samsung has so far left the market for mostly expensive over-ear headphones with active noise cancellation completely to the competition from Bose, Sony and Apple. With the “Galaxy Headphones” this could change from 2027.

Wearable app reveals Samsung’s plans for over-ear headphones

Taking a closer look at the code for some of Samsung’s Galaxy wearable app, colleagues from SamMobile recently came across evidence that the Korean electronics giant is working on high-end headphones for the first time, which will complement the line-up of in-ear headphones that has been available for a long time. The new ANC-capable over-ear headphones from Samsung are already appearing in the Galaxy Wearable app under the internal code name “Galaxy H1”. The design of the headphones can already be seen in some schematic representations embedded in the app.

ANC, Bluetooth 6.0 and pass-through are fixed as features

In addition, it is to be heard that Samsung wants to equip the “Galaxy H1” with “Adaptive Noise Cancellation”, pass-through playback of ambient noise and Bluetooth 6.0. There will also be support for Samsung’s own high-bitrate SSC-UHQ audio codec to play high-resolution audio content when required. According to the report, there is also support for quick automatic switching between multiple source devices. If Samsung also offers a decent battery life and a deep integration of its Galaxy AI services, it could definitely stand up to its big competitors.

Samsung actually has a lot of know-how when it comes to mobile audio products. The group has long had some well-known brands for such products under its wing, JBL and Harman Kardon. Some time ago they also bought the Japanese audio specialist Denon and other brands such as Bowers & Wilkins and Marantz, all of which could contribute something. It will probably be some time before the Samsung “Galaxy H1” comes onto the market. It would be conceivable that the Koreans would introduce the new headphones as part of the launch of the Galaxy S27 series of new high-end smartphones, which is expected in early 2027.
